Drupal newsletter changes

I upgraded drupal.org to the latest development version of Drupal and installed simplenews, a newsletter module for Drupal written by DriesK. I migrated the Drupal newsletter from Mailman to Drupal. You can now manage your newsletter subscriptions from your personal user page, or you could subscribe to the Drupal newsletter's RSS feed. Also, publishing the newsletter on the web has never been easier so no more delays for the web version of the newsletter. In future, both the e-mail version and the web version could, and probably will, go out at the same time.

drupal.org moneywise contributions and other

Steven Peck (sepeck) asked me recently why I was criticizing, and "what did he ever do to me?" ...

As I see it now, drupal.org runs on volunteer work and donated funds. That makes it a moral obligation and sometimes with legal consequences as to how donations are being used. At least the moral obligation of providing for the users of drupal.org should be pretty clear.

Some ideas about modules repository at drupal.org

Hallo.

I'd like to say some suggestions about modules page.
It would be very good to implement:

1) categorization of contributed modules, cause there are SO much of them. (maybe something with taxonomy dictonary with "multiselect" option)

2a) some tools to track new versions of modules,
2b) some tools to track new modules
I'm sure that lots of people also spend much time like me, just browsing huuuge "modules" page for new modules and new versions of known modules.

Current CVS Build slow? Performance tips?

I'm working on a new project workspace community running drupal (http://www.codeleft.com), and in trying to fix some of the bugs in project.module ended up applying the latest CVS build. Since then, I've noticed a pretty significant degredation in performance.

Is anything in the CVS release that could've caused this or does anyone have any performance tips in general? I have the bare minimum number of modules running.

Thanks

Feeds on Module Downloads

Just thought this might be a useful feature for tracking new modules that are added...
Feeds on modules pages too for updates.

The user box blocks the bug search button on drupal.org

I have tried to do a bug search the normal way and can't because my user box blocks the buttons and form elements on the bug search page. Somebody should fix this.
