When contacting other Drupal.org users, using the nice contact form, YOUR OWN email address is the one that is appearing as the FROM address. Even if this may be desireable in many cases, I think a small change should be considered here. We should definetely have the flexibility of not revealing this.
After all, that is one of the potential benefits by not revealing that email address elsewhere, and the email address used for our logins here is not necessarily the one we want the party we contact to use. Can be many reasons for this. Most modern communicators are using several email addresses which they should be able to use as they please. As how this works is not obvious for any person at the time of signing up,
In the default text of such notification messages, the drupal.org system puts a link back to the user that send the email. So if that user has enabled others to email him/her, it is not necessary to give any email address at all, only point to use the contact for for the reply. Then, in the text, one can choose when to give away the email address.
Anyway, the text in the profile is slightly misleading as long as the email is set as the sender in the contact form. The description here is currently (from the MyAccount/Edit page):
"Personal contact form:
Allow other users to contact you by e-mail via your personal contact form. Note that your e-mail address is not made public and that privileged users such as site administrators are able to contact you even if you choose not to enable this feature."
