I have searched. I did eventually come across this...
Installation
Installing a module or theme is pretty much the same until you get to enabling them. Now keep in mind that I use a Windows based PC (development) and Linux servers (on my live sites).
I am testing D6 in a sub-folder and have the message, which many others seem to be seeing:
register_globals is enabled. Drupal requires this configuration directive to be disabled. Your site may not be secure when register_globals is enabled. The PHP manual has instructions for how to change configuration settings. (Currently using PHP register globals Enabled ('1'))
Register_globals is off on the server though. I have 5.7 installed in the root and the status report says:
I have not used Drupal yet but am looking forward to doing so. I am very keen on any website I get involved with being able to validate either Strict or Transitional. I notice that the "showcase" site ("FastCompany.com redesign is powered by Drupal") http://www.fastcompany.com/ although supposedly a Strict HTML site does not validate for seemingly simple reasons (at least a first glance at the test results). Is Drupal (with the right template) able to turn up a fully validated Strict site?
yes, i DID search all over the forums, followed the progress on tagadelic patches this past week for 6 - though it seems like it all depends on a more robust commit for tagadelic and/or the new views2 coming out in perhaps a month...
or am i all wrong?
is there a way - today - to present tag clouds inside a drupal 6 installation for a single vocabulary like 'tags' ? seriously, i did search all over but i was led to those two conclusions above (tagadelic is in patch-a-day mode for d6 and views2 is a month away0
Originally this topic was going to be about how I have been banging my head for hours on my desk trying to figure out how to override the Drupal 6 default search box form (search-theme-form.tpl.php), but as I started to type this up I was checking old pages for information and low and behold I found the answer. So instead I decided to write a post which contained many instances of all the keywords I used when searching for the solution to this very problem in hopes that some other people will find it beneficial.
This post applies to overriding all templates of core modules in Drupal 6.
