I think that instead of the site going down and displaying a drupal screen, drupal should have a maintenance mode that displays a snapshot of the site when the administrator clicked the button. This would kind of be like a sandbox, but when the administrator was done with the the updates / construction, the site would return to live. While in maintenance mode, the user could be alerted with a message stating that they wont be able to create content and are looking at an old snapshot of the site. Can this be accomplished with Sandbox?
I am running a website which is more or less politically coloured. The participants of the website would like to send e-mails to politicians by just entering their e-mail addresses.
Ideal would be that I write a text, I add e-mail addresses of politicians whom it should be sent to, a visitor of my website enters his/her name and e-mail address and the mail gets sent with the users data as sender's name to the address(es) I have put in advance.
Hope you get what I mean, and hope even more that you know any module that might be usable for this?!
our company currently uses MODx a lot for websites with CMS and custom modules. Our customers (and we) love the quick setup and development capabilities of MODx (we can set up a basic site in about 30 minutes), the power of TemplateVariable's, and the way we can integrate custom PHP code in "modules" in the backend CMS. Also the site structure tree view is very important.
