Drupal is great. It has lots of features and what it doesn’t have in core there are modules that will fit you nicely. This is both a blessing and a curse.
I’m currently on drupal5.x and I’m thinking about upgrading to 6 sometime soon. However, as my site depends on a few modules I’m currently stuck on 5 and can’t upgrade since either my modules aren’t upgraded or they’ve been replaced with something else.
My site is a community site where people (who are logged in) can share photos and videos of events we’ve been to. It’s also a blog so that we can write about it. Nothing fancy really. I used to have an event calendar when running drupal4 but it got lost during my transition to drupal5. Now I’m unsure if I can upgrade.
Ideally there should be a few “use cases” on the drupal site where I could find a close match to what I wanted to do and just get that version and those modules. Or perhaps a pre-packaged drupal installation that did most of the things I wanted (I in the sense here as what a common user wants).
So instead I ask you here, what would you get if you needed.
-A blog
-A place to download and upload movies availible for logged in users
-A simple gallery (not gallery2 please) availible for logged in users.
-A calender to share events for logged in users.
-SSL for those who logged in
And what other modules would you recommend?
