I am a old school web designer migrating to Drupal slowly. I was introduced to Drupal by a friend who is a programmer who uses PHP Java Javascript Jquery ect. He advised me not to develop my clients websites, via the internet via my hosting package on the server in real time?
Instead he said get a stand alone machine (dev box) just for developing on not connected to the internet at all. Then arm it with all the modules - themes depending on type of project - developers tools - and even possibly set it up to run Linux. Then develop and test until happy, then move the site to host server?
Question: Is he correct I guess so, he hard core programmer with years of experience.
