Installing Drupal

I installed the drupal for firebug extension into firefox 3.6.13
followed by the drupal for firebug module version
drupalforfirebug-7.x-1.1.zip. Everything seems to install find, but
when I return to the home page I get the following Strict warning.

I am working on a client's site and they are unfortunately on an IIS machine. They have an existing non-Drupal site at the webroot. I want to install a Drupal site to a /drupal folder and still keep their existing site as well.

When I browse to www.example.com/drupal I get a "403 Directory listing is denied" error. I am sure I need to do some config to settings.php and/or .htaccess (does IIS even read this?).

I don't currently have shell access to the machine but I can get it if needed.

I installed Drupal 7.0 on a Mac OSX 10.5.8 using Mamp Pro 1.7.1
All seems to have installed well. Although I hardly know anything about databases I can see in Mamp that there is stuff written to the database/ things happening. Which I assume means the connection to the database is not the problem..
But while I thought I now could start building a Drupal website while the install went well, now going to http://localhost:8888/drupal the only thing I get is a blank page.

I am setting up a multisite on a test sandbox.

I have already experimented with Drupal 7 using a http://www using the default unsecured directory. My biggest concern with Drupal is Content Access Control. Drupal 7 core is perfect for my use.

I want to reinstall Drupal 7 so that Login especially the cookie session is secured. I used FireFox to see if it was secured or not. It wasn't.
