Installing Drupal

I have to make some changes to an already existing website that uses Drupal 6. So here are the steps I took so far and the issues :

1. Downloaded and installed MAMP 2.0
2. Downloaded all the site's files (around 12GB... lots of PDF documents)
3. Exported the database from the host : the file is around 40.7MB

I'm working on creating my first install profile. I've copied the default install profile to a new profile directory and I am using it as a template. Currently the only changes I've made are enabling some additional modules, and enabling a custom theme and setting it to be the default theme.

This all works well, with the exception that the navigation block is not being assigned a region. Obviously when the default install profile is used this happens automatically, but there doesn't appear to be any code for this in the profile.

Anyone know what's going on?

I want to create a new website and I need a mobile and desktop version. I was thinking to develop the mobile version in a subdomain, using a mobile theme and using the same data base than the desktop version, so when I make a change in desktop version is automatically transferred to mobile version

My question is, is that possible? or is it risky?

First, my apologies if this is in the incorrect place...this is my first post on the Drupal forums.

I am attempting to install Drupal 7.4 onto Pair Networks. I have moved all of the files into the public directory, but whenever I try to access the main page to start the installation, I receive this error message:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /fcgi-bin/php5_wrapper.sh/index.php on this server.

Seems like it is ignoring my drupal files, and just trying to access the fcgi-bin.

i have installed Drupal i have problem in configuring the Database:

step 1:-Choose language

* Install Drupal in English
* Learn how to install Drupal in other languages

Step 2:-Database configuration

for setting up Drupal database

I got the following error:-

The following error must be resolved before you can continue the installation process:
Failed to connect to your MySQL database server. MySQL reports the following message: Access denied for user 'venu'@'localhost' (using password: NO).
