Installation in a mod_php configuration

Hi,
We need to install Drupal on a server configured with mod_php.
Meaning the files run as nobody:nobody and as 777.

Now it seems Drupal has problems with this for private files and Backup_migrate, and others.

QUESTION: Is there a white paper or article of installing in such environment? Just so we can move on with this development?

thanks!

How to hide Node title?

Hi there,

another newbie questions.

I've created a new content type w/a taxonomy field. When I opt for a taxonomy term, all available nodes are shown together with their node title.

How can I hide the node title?

Updating Drupal Core

Hi folks, I am new to Drupal, so please excuse my silly questions.

Well, I've Drupal 7.14 installed. My Backend says there is a new version of Drupal available. It also says:

"Updates of Drupal core are not supported at this time."

a) What does this mean?

b) How do I upate to v. 7.15?

c) What about my content?

d) Can I ignore the update?

e) Will there be a supported core update in the future?

f) What shall I do?

Thanks for reading!

How to install Drupal 7 on Linode?

I am new to Linode VPS. I installed LAMP stack successfully.
I am getting following errors, while installing Drupal 7 manually on Linode:

1. PHP extensions
Disabled
Drupal requires you to enable the PHP extensions in the following list (see the system requirements page for more information):
•gd

2. Database support
Disabled
Your web server does not appear to support any common PDO database extensions. Check with your hosting provider to see if they support PDO (PHP Data Objects) and offer any databases that Drupal supports.
