Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Hi. I have installed Drupal 7 and my thoughts with it is to use it for a blog community.
Now to my issue. Can i allow external links to blogs and get feeds from them to the last updated blogs window?
Can someone explain for me how i should do to solve my problem.

The sites folder seems to take about an hour to upload every time! I can't understand why considering my site is not very heavy at all.

Is there a way to get away with uploading only certain sections of sites folder?

I am a beginner working on Windows 7. I installed Acquia Damp Stack about a year ago, downloaded an instance of drupal core 7.9 onto my desktop, and created a new site and database, a subdomain that I named 'drupal-sample1.localhost' . I played around with some of the features and abandoned it. Now I am back and want to update to the lastest version...7.17 and start all over. I have no attachment to my test site so I want to delete it. Since the previous version 7.9 is on my desktop, can I delete it and download the latest version?

When I try to install drupal commons-6.x-2.9 I get error:

An error occurred. http://mydomen/install.php?locale=&profile=drupal_commons&id=2&op=do
Fatal error: Class 'TidyNodeLinksMappingWithThemeFunctions' not found in /home/myaccount/mydomen/www/profiles/drupal_commons/modules/features/commons_answers/commons_answers.module on line 290

Had anybody same error ?
