Installing Drupal

I am new to web design and "Git" comes up quite often. I have not found any tutorials that give good "step by step" instructions for someone who does not know anything.. (Me). I will probably not be changing much code, but can see how this would be useful for keeping a stable site while making changes.

I started making a simple gallery using a content style and views.
In the content type I have made an image and text field.
The views are the options: grid and field and.
Field are image and text.
The filter selected are content type and nid (node).

I want a description text below each image.
How should the text field in the content type linked to image fields, so that each uploaded image have a text field and the text field appears below the picture?
