Is it possible to extend the functionality of groups and permissions to allow for "group only" content?
I am an old-skool citadel user from back in the day, and one of the features I miss most is the ability to separate users by groups, as this allows different types of users thier own "space", separate and private from the rest of the site. I have not noticed an option to make a given node "group only", per se, however, and I'm wondering if this is possible with the existing software or if it's a usability feature that someone might want to monkey with at some point?
As I write this, I'm also considering doing the monkeying myself, although my programming logic stinks on ice. Wouldn't it be nice, for example, to have a group for "adults" that was subject to less stringent profanity filters, for example, so that you could have "family friendly" content available for general users without censoring the opinions of your other users?
This is the one "missing" (or maybe I just haven't found it yet) feature that keeps Drupal from being absolutely perfect for my requirements, however. I've been waiting for Nuke 5.6 since Christmas because of the inclusion of groups, but A) because I know Francisco's probably gotta be doing a major overhaul of some of the code to shoe-horn groups and permissions into the structure and B) I doubt "group only" forums, blogs, etc. were part of his original plan, it's something I can either figure out myself or wait for somebody else to realize what a great idea this is.
