Quote: "Unable to select database"

I've Drupal files on my server, with permissions "0777/777/7777" (How who will ;).
I've changed some rows in /sites/default/settings.php
and in /includes/database.inc
and in /includes/database.mysql.inc, but it does'nt work.

One of my 2 servers have MySQL 5 installed. There is shown this message.
On second i see "500 Internal Server Error".

Parse error in filter.module on install?

Hi, I'm new to Drupal but I'm looking forward to getting into it for myself and for some other sites I'm working on. Doing an install on my own server space to set up a test site I got this error:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/XXXXX/public_html/drupal/modules/filter.module on line 829

I've searched the forums and found nothing. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
dave

Using admin as user. How to change?

Hi,

first of all, let me tell you that drupal is fantastic...! I love it!

But I have a small Problem. When I installed Drupal I didn't care about using the first User as my default User. I've been happy posting stuff in my blog and adding content. And now I heard, that it isn't good to use the first User as default user. Yeah, I know, reading the documentation afterwards doesn't always help ;)

Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied, etc

I just tried a fresh manual install of Drupal, using the latest version from drupal.org. I created a new MySQL database, I edited the appropriate lines in settings.php, I uploaded all the files to the appropriate directory of the ftp.

I get the following error message when I try to access the site:

Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: 'samero00@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/samero00/domains/lokys.net/public_html/media/services/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 31
Access denied for user: 'samero00@localhost' (Using password: YES)

newbie

I have been struggling with dreamweaver trying to setup my own website with weblog, navigation, etc. To this end i found salvation in the form of Drupal!.

I tried to follow the configuration pages for mac 10.4 but failed when i reached the testing SQL part.

Im wondering if i actually need to worry about having my own machine configured for such things as my website is hosted by someone else and i simply user dreamweaver to amend my static pages and then upload.

Would i not simply download the Drupal software and create a new site from that and build on top of it.

Page Not found on multiple site config

I've installed drupal and set up multiple sites with multiple databases per teh consolidated instructions in this post,

http://drupal.org/node/20663

My problem is when I browse to http://myservername/drupal I get what look like the welcome screen with links to to create the first account. But where the welcome message should be, it instead says "Page not found". I was getting the correct welcome message prior to setting up the multiple sites.
