The Project Browser Initiative is working on a new page for adding and installing modules. The default display of the Project Browser will show Drupal modules that have a release that is compatible with the version of Drupal the site is using. A card will be displayed for each of the modules (projects). The key components displayed on the card will include a logo, a short description and the categories this module belongs to.
The number of categories was recently reduced from 55 down to 19 to help folks searching for modules to more effectively use the category filter.
First, read through the module’s project page on Drupal.org - Embed. If needed, spin up the module on SimplyTest.me or DrupalPod to understand what the module does. Then review the Category Definitions and suggest 1-3 categories for the module. (When in doubt, err on the side of fewer, not more!)
Proposed Categories
- Developer Tools
- Content Editing Experience
- Media ?

pearcraft commentedTwo categories are currently listed for Embed.
1.) Filters/Editors & 2.) Media
I see no need to change this project's categories.

dflitner commentedI'm working on this at DrupalCon Portland 2024.

dflitner commentedThe existing categories are Content Editing Experience and Media.
I think this module belongs under Developer Tools and Content Editing Experience. I hesitate to add the Media category because Embed can work for so many things beyond media objects.
With this, Crop API, and other "helper" modules I've gone back and forth on adding them to Content Editing Experience category. They do improve the content editing experience but not by themselves, only via another module that uses this API or framework.

bsnodgrass commentedMarking this as RTBC, noting Media is the current category for the project, I added it to the list with a Question mark. The maintainers can make the call on that one.
