I want to use CCK Nodereference in my Drupal 6 site, but it is recommended that if I later want to upgrade to Drupal 8, that we avoid it.

It is suggested that we use Entity reference instead, except that it is not available for Drupal 6.

Is there no choice but to use Nodereference, and hope that there will be an upgrade path at some point?
