I find it amusing that a site about ruby and rails is using drupal instead of the targeted framework.

Agreed.

Well, at some point we expect to roll out a ruby - based site (or at least add ruby-based features). In the meantime, we like Drupal for community sites. So why not go with a winner?

Does every site discussing Drupal have to be Drupal based? :D

Actually i liked ruby for the period of time i played with it... but i tried rails and got nowhere with it because there wasnt many resources for it at the time. I think personally that people should use whatever tools suit their needs
to relay the information to other users... like... if rails suited the drupal site then go with it.

Thanks for your feedback! (btw, I wasn't offended by the comments, I was more worried that I'd committed a no-no or something...)

Believe me when I say that we struggled with the decision to use a mature CMS system (Drupal!) - precisely because of the potential credibility issues.

In the end, we decided it was more important to get the site up and running rather than try our hand at rolling our own, since that's not really the point of the site - it's a place for us to put all those tidbits we discover while we are learning Ruby and related technologies.

What ever tool does the work for you. THere is a java development site using Drupal somewhere too.

As your content grows and your site matures I would suggest you look at the Views and the Panels module to help you with the presentation of information for your site as well.

I'm using views already (not that you'd know it - the navigation tabs use very simple view pages) and am looking at panels on one of my other sites.

Those modules are lifesavers...
