Set $base_url in sites/default/settings.php to a proper value. Examples are provided in that file.

Consult the No theme but code... page in the handbook for your {head} problem.

When you create the first account it does email you the information and I understand your SMTP server was not working. However, when you created the account it brought up a page with your new password in bold text. What I do is copy that to my clipboard in case of a problem, but then click on the link on the page to continue logging in. This then logs you in and you can go in and change your password.

Since you are beyond this you could possibly go into myPHPadmin if you have it to delete the first user and recreate it. However, since you just installed the software and obviously have not posted any content it might be easier to just delete everything, including the database and start over.

The last option is the one I'd choose.

Next time just look more carefully at the page that results after you create the first account. I have installed five different Drupal sites and have never had to open the resulting email because of the link on the resulting page.

When someone forgets/doesn't know his/her password for account 1 anymore (which is not the case here) a simple SQL statement update users set pass=MD5('newpwd') where uid='1'; is all that's needed.

hi all,....

really thanks a lot for the support...
but need some more assistant..

1st, i setup PHPTemplate..
and now finally i can see something instead of {xxx}

but there top 2 lines have
"warning: include_once(theme/engines/xtemplate/xtemplate.engine) [function.include-once] : failed to open stream : No such file or directory...
warning.. "

is this normal?
cause i delete the older xtemplate folder in order to make this work.....

then i drop my database
and run the script again.
so now i create my account

i query the database, user with uid "1" is created
but i cannot login with given password.. :(

can anyone help me please..?

btw, my configuration is on win2k machine
with php version 5.1.1
apache version 2.0.55
and mysql version 5.0.18

hi all..
i think the last last problem is ...
LOGIN problem....

- if i login with wrong password, it will show me wrong password warning ( means durpal do check the password)
- BUT, if i login with correct password, the page will just .. 'refresh' to the login page...

any idea what should i do
i come accross similar thread in this forum
but i try all the stuff.. like clean url, mod_rewrite, cookies setting in browser... all not working....

i have check 'watchdog' table.. no error log there..

i think the warning thing about xtemplate...
i should login and change the template
than it will gone?

and for SMTP i have setting up a local server.. :D
how stupid i thought windows is linux comes with a server.. :D

so i think that login problem will be the last problem

really need u all help here...
really appreciate all the help

Your installation is still using (or trying to use) xtemplate. You'll need to login first, then set another theme (eg chameleon).

Did you already fix $base_url in /sites/default/settings.php ?

and other thing
so now no more "page not found" problem

the only problem is.. i cannot log in
(so cannot change the theme)

everytime i login
it will just refresh back the login page.. :(

heine’s picture

Can you give a URL, so people here can take a look?

can anyone show me how to do please.. i really dono how to make it accesible to everyone..

heine’s picture

Sorry, forgot that I wanted to post a reply here.

I was just interested in your $base_url.

When you approach your drupal installation with eg http://192.168.3.1/drupal over the local network, your $base_url needs to be

$base_url = 'http://192.168.3.1/drupal';
