Hi,
I have been doing a lot of convergence work and have come to realize that Drupal is not quickly moving towards convergence. I like Drupal, though there are days I have wanted to switch to Wordpress of Joomla. O.K. Not Joomla, but say Wordpress. A lot of issues I have seen here are that Drupal Modules are developed on a "this is mine" basis and makes it a mission to link up one module to another. Which is why a company like Facebook did not use Drupal to build their Social networks. But if we look at Facebook, they have a killer application, has IM, Events, Friends, etc. But look at Drupal. Has AjaxIM, Events/Calendar, Buddylist/Buddylist2/Friends/User Relationships. And all of these modules are sub par to what say Myspace or Facebook has. Question is, sometimes, aren't the efforts wasted by reinventing the wheel? As many as 4 times?

I believe we need to be more focused on improving what we already have and a lot more collaboration. Some people will never be coders like the rest of us, some will never build modules, and some will only ask for help, but all this factors around a community that needs to be more converged for efficiency and to have a better app, and even win all this Best CMS competitions.

Cheers.
