Hello there,
I was wondering if we can completely disable the user log ins. Well, we can hide the log in block, but still a user, familiar with Drupal will definitely try for /user in the address bar of the browser.
Can we completely disable this feature any way?
Thank you.

Who would be using the site?
What is the purpose of this? You can currently take the site off-line. Then only users with the appropriate permission can log in to the site.
If you completely disable the login process, how would you log in even as administrator to manage the site?

The main aim behind turning off the log ins and registration is that we wanna make the site publicly accessible by all users. No need to register or log in at all. But later on we can enable this in the site.

Disable public registrations
I'm not sure you can lose the /user login URL, but have you tried disabling public registrations in User Management > User Settings?

The public registration is already turned off. But our aim is to make the site completely free from authentication!

Does it make sense...?
Hi,
Drupal is a CMS and a framework which is being controlled by a super user called 'admin'. If you would disable all sort of authentication from your site, then how would admin get log in to that site. I think what you can do in drupal is that disable the registration process, so no new user can become a member of your site. But provide a space for admin to get login.

At first glance it doesn't.
But we wanna make the site widely accepted publicly. And its not always necessary to make the user to leave their identity to access the content.
I accept your point that the admin needs to log in into the site in the processes to keep the site updated. But this allowed only with some special url and that should not be '/user'

Why worry?
If anyone does know enough to try the /user URL, they're not going to get far.
Did you try this module?
