There are many types of Drupal events, ranging from the large, comprehensive DrupalCons organized by the Drupal Association, to smaller local Drupal Camps and Drupal Group meetings. They are the lifeblood of the Drupal project, bringing together people, ideas and perspectives from around the community and beyond.
Running a Drupal event is described in our documentation, which is constantly evolving. You can read about it at:
The following groups are actively engaged in this area:

mradcliffeMaybe substitute They with "Our communities".?
What is the call to action that could be added to the end of the sentence to motivate and inspire people (me) to look for and connect with their local, regional, national, cultural, religious and like-minded communities?

jhodgdonFix spelling (should be American not British, according to our docs style standards), or at least not a mix of both. :)
jhodgdonI have a few additional suggestions for this section:
a) First paragraph: "... bringing together people, ideas, and perspectives..." ("people" added)
b) I think we should link them to groups.drupal.org, to find a local/regional group in their area if one already exists, or to start one if there isn't one for their area.

jhodgdonI created #3008663: Standardize items about Slack and DrupalChat to discuss how we should refer to chat stuff, so we can standardize and discuss it in one place. Not sure if it applies here or not, since the camp organizers channel is a separate Slack workspace.

I've added references to g.d.o and "people"

In this case, given it is a separate Slack channel, it is probably better off as it is. My only concern with it is it is very heavily US centric.
jhodgdonI think this looks good! I have no opinion about the Slack channel...

jhodgdonUntil someone has a different opinion, I'll mark it RTBC. :)

lizzjoyIs this a place to mention sprints (I'm thinking about Global Sprint Weekend as an example)? Or are “I want to help or mentor others contribute to the Drupal Project” or “I want to connect with members of the Drupal community who live or work nearby” better places?
jhodgdonAh, yes! Maybe we should mention the Global Sprint Weekend and Global Training Days events here, and I think both have pages explaining how to organize them? Somewhere on d.o there is also a page about organizing sprints in general.
Setting to Needs Work for these ideas. Thanks!
jhodgdonLet's see. The Organizing Events page that is already linked here has a subpage on organizing sprints, so I think we have the "organize a generic sprint" thing covered.
For Drupal Global Training Days, I found this group on groups.drupal.org: https://groups.drupal.org/global-training-days
That page has links to how-to guides and dates.
I was not able to locate any official or semi-official pages/groups/etc. on Global Sprint Weekends. Anyone have a link?
jhodgdonOK, I found some information on sprints... updating the text, based on #13 and #14...
Dan_Lind commentedThe text is short and to-the-point which isn't necessarily bad. Maybe include a small bit of detail describing what happens at these events or provide a link to a page with these details on it. Since I've never been to one, it would be nice to know how attending the event would allow me to contribute my skills to the Drupal project.
jhodgdonThere is a sentence saying:
They are the lifeblood of the Drupal project, bringing together people, ideas and perspectives from around the community and beyond.
I am not sure what else we need to cover... what happens at local/regional events is highly variable. Any thoughts?

bramdriesenTo me this looks to be quite complete!
