I'm a newbie. I've read my Drupal books and a lot of content here at the site. I installed the Birthday mod.
I am getting the message:

"Birthday profile field is not set. Please visit the birthdays settings page."

I think I need to create a date or birthdate field. I'm still a little confused as to how to do this properly and would greatly appreciate it if some one could walk me through the set up of the birthday mod and or how to create "Birthday profile field".

You need to create at date field in the core profile module to hold the birthday. I believe you then need to go into the birthday module's settings and tell it which one to use, but I haven't looked at it in a very long time and may be off on that.
