Problem/Motivation

During the usability study, some participants did not notice that they had created a new term. The page was very similar to the previous page and they did not see the message stating they had created a new term.

Proposed resolution

Introduce subtle animation to draw more attention to the box.

What do you all think about this?

Basically when the message appears there is a 500ms delay, then the left border 'waves' twice. I tried a bunch of different things - background fading in, gradients fading right to left, checkmark pulsing - but this was what looked best to me.

I'm pretty new to Drupal in general so there may have been a better way to implement this change. What I did was:

  1. create a new messages.override library in taxonomy.libraries.yml to hold a new CSS file
  2. add the new library into taxonomy.info.yml
  3. attached library to TermForm.php with $form['#attached']['library'][] = 'taxonomy/messages.override';
  4. added a new messages.css into the module css folder

What I find odd though is why would we apply a change like this only to the new taxonomy term alert instead of Drupal wide?

Drupal core is moving towards using a “main” branch. As an interim step, a new 11.x branch has been opened, as Drupal.org infrastructure cannot currently fully support a branch named main. Thank you for creating this issue to improve Drupal.

We are working to decide if this task is still relevant to a currently supported version of Drupal. There hasn't been any discussion here for over 8 years which suggests that this has either been implemented or is no longer relevant. Your thoughts on this will allow a decision to be made.

Since we need more information to move forward with this issue, the status is now Postponed (maintainer needs more info). If we don't receive additional information to help with the issue, it may be closed after three months.
