I am new to drupal and I am having two issues with content translation.

The front page of my site contains a view built by elements of the particular custom created content type (ie. grid image). If I translate an element of the grid image view, it gets doubled and translated version is visible in the view as well as the original one. I assume as they are of the same content type both gets picked up by the view. I would like to avoid this.
Question, how to filter out the grid view which is not associated to a particular language. Once user switch to French only French translated content of the view should be visible?

The second issue, if I create a topic in the forum section it's language defaults to English, which is a default language of the web site. The newly created content is visible in the active & new forum topic section as long as front page is set to english.
Now if I change language to French, my newly created forum topics aren't listed in the active and new forum topics section. I assume this is for the reason that forum's language defaulted to English. How to set forum's language to the language neutral?

Can anyone help and advice how to resolve these problems?
