In the new toolbar there are accessible announcements when a new tray is opened. This is achieved by an ARIA live region on the page.
As a screen-reader user I can still find the message that is announced on the page after it is announced. Can this message be removed from the live region some time after it is added, so that it is no longer visible to screen-reader users? Some testing would need to happen to find out if a screen-reader that has yet to read the announcement will be unable because the node is removed.

mgiffordSounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure how to proceed with this. Could we use
onfocus
to determine if it's been read & then remove it?Comment #2
jessebeach CreditAttribution: jessebeach commentedCan we put a label on the live region explaining what it is? That the text inside might be duplicated? There's no way to know when the content of a live region has been announced.

mgiffordI'm trying to find out. For now we can mark it as postponed. Everett's the only person who has reported it and that was a while ago.
