Google Calendar changes the Favicon each day to show the day number. To do this with Drupal, you'd have to update the theme's favicon each day. It would be nice if there was a hook_favicon() to let contrib modules help manage this.

Perhaps once we have plugins in D8 core the favicon could be provided by a plugin? Then core would have a 'favicon from the theme settings' plugin and contrib could have a 'favicon by day of the week' or 'favicon from user preferences' and so on.
