Install the Simple News Module. Add a subscription block on the front page.

Does this module allow for multiple newsletters? Say:

- Europe
- USA
- Canada
- South America
etc.?

And how does the creation and distribution work?

Is there a module out there that allows for dynamic creation of a newsletter? I'm looking for something that allows me to press a button and put "all last Canada blogs" into a mail/text file, based on the use of taxonomy. How else would I go about doing this?

You can have multiple newsletters for sure.
Creation and distribution is based on the access role.. For instance, you can have an editorial board to contribute and prepare newsletter content while you can retain the privelege of sending it out..

I'm not sure what you ask for in the "dynamic creation" is available.. I'm not totally sure but eNewsletter ( and I dont believe there's a 5.x version ) might work for you.

Does eNewsletter work with 5.1?
I cant find any info of anyone using it with 5.1

I'm also looking for a way so send newsletters from a 5.1 - and as far as I can see enewsletter seems to be THE choice*.. - ..if it was only compatible with 5.1 - or is it..? ..maybe I'll just give it a try..:]

I'm looking for the same thing. But enewsletter doesn't seem to work with 5.1. Is there an alternative?

I'm now actually working/trying with simplenews and send - anonymous registration + confirmation, and registred users can maintain their subscriptions through their profiles.. Also multiple lists and archive are rather easy to set up..
I think drupal.org seems to use the same..?

I was actually seeking for a newsletter module and gave simplenews a try.

Pretty easy to use, but there are some shortcomings... While it is actually possible to create several newsletter feeds, you should try not to send multiple newsletter at once...

Say for example you want to send an English newsletter, followed by a French version... and say you need to 'cron' it because you got a bunch of subcriptions (+1000 emails each)... then you are running into trouble because simplenews actually store the sending status in the subscription account... which can lead into a choke (status error, etc...)

Be sure to send each newsletter, one after one (completely sent)...

The author wrote a TODO in the code to raise the issue.
