Drupal security team leadership change

After leading the Drupal security team for a long time, Karoly Negyesi (chx) is stepping down due to other commitments. Heine Deelstra (Heine) is taking on this important responsibility.

Karoly will still be on the security team, just not heading the team anymore.

The Drupal community would like to take this opportunity to thank Karoly for all his security team contributions in the past and look for more in the future. We also wish Heine the best in his new and challenging role.

Meet the PHP speakers of OSCON

FYI, for those attending OSCON...

Presented by pdxphp,
Due to the fact that OSCON is in town and the PHP speakers rock (since they offered to do this talk this year and last) we will have the who's who of the PHP world speaking at our July meeting. Get samplings of the presentations these folks give at OSCON but free of charge (and we will even feed you pizza!). Find out what is on the road map for PHP from Rasmus himself. An excellent time was had last year [pdxphp.org/meetings/2005/august] and should be even better this year...

Projects Needing Financing

Based on very affordable and quite decent web hosting, I've been fortunate enough to make quite a bit of money through affiliate referrals. As a result, I've donated a portion of the proceeds I've made back to Drupal as well as CivicSpace in order to help out on various projects. For example, I like the various (about half a dozen or so) Organic Group Enhancements and og2list modules that CivicSpace has been developing and, because I'll definitely take advantage of the these various modules at some point, I decided to support both Drupal and CivicSpace financially.

In order to make it easier for excellent projects such as OG enhancements, og2list, and other future Drupal projects to be added to the long list of contributed modules, I went ahead and created the Projects Needing Financing group. The intent is to match up potential donors with potential projects as well as allow a place for developers needing financing to post their projects so that others may become aware of them as well as see some of the exciting modules that are in the planning stages. Although many donations aren't large, when combined with others they are enough to help move projects along and I believe that every Euro, peso, pound, rupee, yen, dollar, etc, is very important.
