The Drupal Universe

Introducing the drupal universe....
Only local images are allowed.

Netvibes, known for it's AJAX start pages, recently launched universes. This is a place where users will be able to create customized versions of netvibes and share them with others. At launch there were about 100 of them for bands like 50 cent, Ben Harper, and Mandy Moore along with universes for major sites like CBS, CNN Money, Forbes.com, and Techcrunch.

At this point users still can't create their own universes but netvibes has helped us create one for drupal (thanks netvibes). You can check it out at http://www.netvibes.com/drupal.

Some of the content on the general page is the drupal planet, the lullabot podcast, the drupal showcase forum, drupal on del.icio.us and flickr, and more. On the developer page there are the drupal digest feeds, some quick links for developers, the drupal dojo, and more.

Lullabot Podcast Hits 40

We've just posted episode #40 of the Lullabot Drupal Podcast! This episode is a (subjective) countdown of the top 40 Drupal projects.

Status update on Drupal.org performance issues and how you can help

As many of you are no doubt aware ;) drupal.org has been pretty slow to respond lately. And while there has been a lot of work going on to resolve this problem by various members of the infrastructure team, there has not been a lot of information in terms of forum posts and such to keep the community at large informed.

So here's to changing all of that. :)

NOTE: Most of this content comes from a recent e-mail to the infrastructure mailing list (requires registration) from Eric Searcy of OSU Open Source Lab (OSL), drupal.org's generous hosting provider.

The Best of Drupal -- Launched

It's always such a pain trying to find the really great modules, themes & snippets. So, I created www.bestofdrupal.com.

You can use it to see what other people are using, and recommend your own projects, too. It's great to get an idea of what works well and I think it will really shorten the time it takes for a newbie to get up and running with his/her Drupal site.
