Hi Everyone.

After a brief venture into the world of Mambo, we are now thankfully being offered the opportunity to experience Drupal! I found Mambo was not intuitive, frustrating and when I found out that Drupal and CiviRM worked together that was even better. We are now waiting for Access Highway, our server, to set us up.

The General Sub direction of Computer Systems of the Conselleria(Ministry of Education) of the Xunta (Government of Galicia) offers to public and private educational centres of the County of Galicia the possibility of applying for space web with a bunch of pre-installed dynamic applications and free software in order to elaborate a learning portal or virtual campus. Drupal, Coppermine and Moodle have been chosen to the development of this Project. We might include a web quest tool.
This experience began in January 2006 in a Primary School. Once we tested the possibilities, more schools have been included in the project since September 2006. Nowadays, 150 schools are part of the project (June 2007)
The web spaces are in the own servidors of the Conselleria, they are offered with a pack of predefined modules, subjects, menus and users. However, they can be modified in order to be applicable to each school.
The General Sub direction offers the actualization of the applications.
Besides, the Siega Assessors of the zone assist and provide counselling in each centre to carry on the Project.
Moreover, the portal: (http://centros.edu.xunta.es/formaciondrupal) provides a user for each centre, where they can consult the manuals, participate in forums, ask questions to the administrators or check the workshops.
We would like to take the final steps during 2007/2008.
