Are Dynamic Blocks possible???

Does anyone know if it is possible to make your blocks dynamic? Either the core blocks provided by drupal or by creating your own blocks and making those dynamic.
Any input or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mattso

Blank passwords

When you edit user's profile, leaving the password fields blank results in blank password set for the user! I find it rather unnerving. This should be fixed - if nothing is put in both password and confirm password boxes, the old one should be retained in the database.

groups.drupal.org

It looks like groups.drupal.org has to be searched separately from drupal.org. I wish the discussions there could be better integrated into here. It's frustrating to have to search drupal.org, and google, and now have to also search groups.drupal.org.

I wonder how useful groups will be for the users of our own sites if they have to face this additional search. I think groups are useful as mailing lists.

And having nested groups would be great.

few months after...

hello

I am new here, so hi to everyone! Sorry for my english but i am not native speaker.

I would like to share some of my observations of drupal usability.

For some background: as a long time webmaster and cms user i think that drupal is propably most logical and easy to 'get into' cms i've ever seen. Even if you not familiar with node and taxonomy things - if you spend some time you will be suprised how clean and logical it is. I moved my homepage ( http://palikowski.vel.pl ) to drupal and i am happy. But after some months using drupal i have some thoughts to share.

First - lists of terms, menu items, blocks, and so on. There is much to do here. I am very suprised that i have to click "edit" taxonomy term to delete it. Same thing with moving some terms to another parent or renaming them and changing their weight - i have to click and click and click... my idea is to make some standard columns - like weight, editable title (like in book pages admin), column of checkboxes and an list of actions (like in content admin) - so i could check 10 terms and delete them, or move beneath any parent term, with changing their weight and titles in ONE CLICK.

So for me there is inconsistency betrween administration in modules - some have checkbox colum, some have mass title and wight editing, some haven't.

The checkbox column idea and standard mass actions (like copy, move, delete, publish, unpublish an so on) is not mine of cours, it is taken straight from mambo/joomla and works great there. It is a core feature and works similar in all lists (even 3rd party modules that can present new mass actions) in admin section of mambo - and could work in drupal too.

Movie Forum post to blog

I just swiched over from phpbb and i was using phpbb blog. I now need to move hole forum topics to the blog. Any idea as to how I might go about doing this?
