Deprecated - Usability feedback

on the website www.rampancy.com whenever i log in is says something like this:

The path module seems to have been ignored for several versions now and its interface needs an overhaul. Handling more than maybe a few hundred aliases becomes very time consuming. I posted some ideas I've had on how to improve its user interface here:

I'd also like to add one: AJAX editing of aliases in the alias list itself, just click on a path in the list to edit it in place.

I"ve searched the forums for hours and couldn't find an answer. Please Help...
I want to make a menu on the left of the page. The menu is just a few images (buttons) one under the other.
Should it be so complicated?

One of the most confusing aspects of Drupal is that newcomers don't realize that a page looks different for different roles--especially anonymous website visitors.

For example, i've had several users tell me they were very confused by the way that their blog listing on a menu appears as "my blog" when they are logged in. Do the costs (occasional newbie confusion) here outweigh the benefits (which in this case, i can't really identify)?

I am supporting it but do not have access to the root folders, only admin rights inside the Drupal shell. I can use html inside the pages, but cannot do anything with other code or php.
