Module development and code questions

Hi,
Are there any forum module replacements? I need a more up-to-date forum. This one is extremely rudimentary.

Where would I put some images if I wanted to include them with my module?

I'm writing a module that needs to be able to interact with the events module, i.e. create a new event. Can anyone tell me where I could find information on how this is done or a module I should read through to get an idea? I've read through some of the handbooks and module code but no luck. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Could the old BANEX banner exchange be made into a module that would let only paid members of the site join the banner exchange? The simplicity of the original banner exchange was wonderful but the code has always been problematic.

On our site, we created a "Did You Know" kind of content type to appear as a block (Image, Title, Blurb). The way it was supposed to work, the user would create a new Content Type, and the most recently appearing "sticky at top of lists" created Content type would be the one that appeared on all pages.

Now, however, we would like to change it so that we can dynamically determine which types of "Did-You-Knows" appear where. So, if a did-you-know is about a particular staff member, it could be in the section "About us," and if it's about a particular project that is being worked, it can appear in the section about that project. I'm just not sure exactly how to go about it.

The first step I took was, for the "Did You Know" that I wanted to appear on the about page, I made the parent item "about," and the one for projects, I made the parent item "projects", etc.

I am currently using ecommerce module and have my custom product types. I want to upload multiple images of my products and display them. I don't want to use cck for this and I know that image module allows only one image to be uploaded. I can tweak image module to support multiple uploads. But I want to know if there is a b etter way to do this job.

Another thing is by default the product module displays just the title,body and price of the products. So how can we make it to display the images of the products as well.
