Module development and code questions

Hey,

So this is the problem.

When logged in as Admin, I can view all user profiles. But when logged out and viewing as a Guest, I get a 404 for certain users I.e. www.allhonours.ie/users/USERNAME

Any idea why this would be happening? What I'm struggling with is that I can view the majority of users.

Sorry for this dumb question, but in the installation notes for node_privacy_byrole it says:

TO ENABLE:
----------
Enable the module as you would any other module. However, you will
also need to go to the node_privacy_byrole's settings page and explicity
enable it there.

Where is the node_privacy_byrole settings page? I tried going to Administer >> By module, but I don't see it there. node_privacy_byrole is different from node, right?

i'm trying to convert an old module 4.6 to 5 to create some newsletters. the enewsletter module for the 4.6 version use several other modules like html2txt, schedule, publications, templates...etc...

I have seen that the functions to make a theme in the 4.6 are usually written like form_textfield or form_textarea. In the 5, there are like theme_textfield. The number of arguments are not the same, the name argument have disappeared.
One function does no longer exist in version 5. The 4.6 function form_group have no equivalent in 5.

I am after a module that allows me to access fields from tables within a database and display it on the site. The user can then drag-and-drop and type in data as necessary to modify the database and also create a list for another purpose.

I am looking to do this for my Cricket club website, where we can drag player names in from the player database and add it to a list of players selected for the current match. After that we can post the selections on the site. Are there any recommended modules out there?

I installed the image module, but when I upload a gif image I only see it on my "Admin" front page, when I log out, I only see a question mark. I have already enabled users to view image etc.
