Need help migrating your site to Drupal?

Create URL aliases of URLs with GET parameters

We are porting a website to drupal. The old site is a custom PHP site that uses "ugly" urls like getPage.php?id=100. In our new site I would like to alias urls like getPage.php?id=100 to point to node/4 so that external links to the old site will continue to work.

There seems to be a problem with the url alias feature. It does not seem to work on aliases that use GET parameters in the url. For instance, if i alias about.php to point to node/3, it works. But i create a url alias that has GET parmeters like getPage.php?id=100 and point to node/3 I see a page not found error.

Equivalent Functions in Drupal

Three functions that I would like to retain while at the same time, gaining more functionality with Drupal...

User deleted accounts - posts remain, author info remains, ratings remain but profile and ability to log in goes bye bye.
SMS - Send posts via SMS.
Personal Notes - Would like them to be independent by post, rather than global.

I looked through around 600 modules before my eyes burned to much to continue, so if anyone has seen them, or at least knows a name so I can narrow down the search, I would greatly appreciate it!

Need someone to help convert a site.

Dreamweaver to Drupal

Is there a way to convert/port any html web sites created from the ground up using Dreamweaver into Drupal?
Sorry if this has been asked already, I just recently installed drupal and so far its overwhelming and I'm a bit lost and confused, been using Dreamweaver for the past 6 years.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Flash or Spry Header - please help!

Hey!

I'm really new to Drupal, but excited for the possibilities that it is going to give my site!!! The design is really complicated: and I'm used to coding using absolute positioning... I don't have any php experience at all. (See my current site: www.CandiceJarrett.com - which I had some help with btw)

I have this design where I want to make the nav part of the header and use either flash or spry to make the nav and the header do some cool animations relative to eachother. Here's a screenshot of what the new site will look like:

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j303/candicejarrett/PREVIEW_4.jpg

How do I make the header float center and appear at the top of the page like that while simultaneously getting rid of the dynamic nav associated with drupal only on the user end... (keeping the nav in the admin panel).

Besides the header/nav problem... I was looking to use some kind of rotator for the featured fan photo... so that it selects from a few jpegs that I preselect. I'm going to go through the tutorials here with a fine tooth comb and hope that I can make this design a reality while still using drupal. If anyone here can give me advice about any part of it... especially the header... I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Cheers!

drag and drop - two questions

I am porting my site over, and wondered if for eye candy purposes, there were a way to create a drag and drop UI so that users could arrange modules on the page in three column a where they want, similar to myyahoo or other similar providers.

Question two, is there a module currently available that let's me have user folders that users can drag search results from and save them within their user profiles?
