Converting to Drupal

Hi all,
this is my first time with drupal and I'm getting some troubles.

I am responsible for data migration between our old framework and drupal.
With user profiles, articles and other data I had no problem. I am using CCK module to create new content types.

Now I'm in troubles with comments. Our old framework has lots of sensitive data attached to each comment which I must move to drupal database.

we have a custom them done in drupal 5.x and now were migrating to 6.x, i copy pasted the 5.x theme in the 6.x theme directory but the theme is not showing. could there be a compatability issue?

M Newbie in drupal, whenever I am creating any page or story, the Title is getting displayed twice, one with hyperlink and another with no link.
how do I fix that.

I'm just in the process in lerning drupal to replace a joomla site which always trouble me with updates and a captcha module and I'm now at a level I will not continue with joomla.

So i decided to take drupal.
But I have a problem that blocks my migration.

I need a possibility to attach several files to a node which can be downloaded by clicking on them (like it is done on the drupal.org site with some information on it, version, date, download counter, maybe more).

I have a site that I built using html and a couple of forms. It contains perhaps 18-20 pages and I would like to make it drupal site so that my editors can make changes on their own. How do I get started moving it into drupal. I have drupal installed at my web hosting site.

I have recently started to use drupal and yes it is really amazing, i have become addicted to it actually.

I am stuck at a problem though and before putting up a solution please consider that i am not web developer/designer. I know fair amount of css and although i have a custom theme for myself but still without a template.php. Yes, i prefer not to write any php functions.
