How can I display random items(or maybe not so random) on my page (not in the main content area)

I'm building a site that is mainly e-commerce (well converting) and I want to be able to have an area of the page that will show products(with images) depending on what the visitor clicks. (I don't mind if its random products, but it would be cool if I could select what they were). I'm not experienced with PHP at all. In my head, I know what it has to be, and I think I've figured out how to layout the page correctly (CSS, then inserting PHP functions in the divs).

How can i merge an swf from a remote url in to a drupal page

I have an external url [ ex. url http://www.123.com/film.swf

I have to include it into a post ... autoplaying better ... how can i do it?

tnx

Upload multiple audio files?

Hi to all,

I'm hosting a radio show. Since I'm the producer, I keep all the rights to put my show on the web.

I've installed Drupal 5.1 plus several modules, including the audio module. As I understand it, I can only upload one audio file per post. It's perfect if I want to upload the entire hour but what if I wanna use the Extended XSPF Web Music Player and break my show in multiple segments (the overture, the 2 or 3 interviews, the 2 songs we play, and the conclusion) so that the user can choose whatever parts he want to listen?

drupal.org very unsexy ("plumbing"!!); power is hidden

Hi:

Some notes that may be of a little use; partly as I've seen posts from a few people re promoting Drupal, and mentioning Joomla's marketing efforts. (Even saw article on merits of Drupal, where the few posts about dominated by Joomla guff!). So seems there's interest in having Drupal more widely used and appreciated. Maybe of some use.

Just having a go with Drupal, after some experience with Mambo and Joomla.
Partly as frustrated re Mambo/Joomla having Search Engine Unfriendly URLs at the core (with multiple URLs v possible for same content); also as have forum as part of Drupal - so URLs/search, menu creation work; Menalto Gallery fits well.
Also as been asked re creating a site that would need several categories for individual content items; after searching for info, seems Drupal can handle this with ease (even though for me as mere mortal, handling those taxonomy terms real tough!)

As title of my post says, I find the drupal site distinctly unexciting.
Plenty of power in the software itself - I've seen re sites like savannah river paper - yet you wouldn't know it looking at drupal.org.
The home page has been sexed up a little; but otherwise, oh dear, page appearances not a vast leap forward from days when standard web pages were black text on greyish backgrounds! :)

To All developers and core team: Rich media in drupal

First of all: Moderators, if you think this is not the right place for this topic, please move it. Just no to the "recicly bin".

Second of all, I am a beginner in drupal development. It may happen, that a lot of things I state below, are not ENTIRELY true, these are my impressions and ideas.

Third: Beware, this is a long post...

I am frustrated. I have an idea to implement, but i kind of hit obstacles with every single module I try to tailor to my needs.

The problem with easy image handling and upload is so old, that it starts having a beard. A lot of people and developers tried to address this point with different solutions - and please allow me this comment -, but seemingly without conception. At this point I have 68 modules (counting only directories) installed and there are too many of them offering the same in different flavour. And what is good in one of them, is missing from the second.

Node containing various links

I want to make a custom node called "researcher". It must contain a picture, some personal information and a list of publications, with a download link to each one of them. The number of publications may grow through time.

What's the best solution for implementing this feature? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!
