How to use the translation file? (.po)

After upgrading drupal (7.21), I want to use the newest translation file.
I can download the po-file at http://localize.drupal.org/
And I try to use it at:
Administration » Configuration » Regional and language
use the tab : Import
Select the po-file and the check-box : Strings in the uploaded file replace existing ones, new ones are added. The plural format is updated.
But the file is too big, I get the time-out after 240 sec.

alphabetical order /hierarchy/ taxonomy terms translated in views/ alphabetical order regardless of language

Hi,

I have a view in which user can filter posts by the countries. Users can change interface as well the taxonomy terms are changed (translated) but unfortunately the hierarchy in filter when translated is not changed (stays like in source language) when in some of interfaces the terms are not sorted alphabetical because of this. How to force taxonomy to show terms in alphabetical order regardless of language.

HELP!!! i18n does not translate the contents of the text group FIELDS

I tried for several hours. But I can not let the FIELD NAME, the FIELD DESCRIPTION be translated in any case.

Nivo slider and translating the descriptions.

Hey guys,

I am building a multilingal Drupal site for a client, I successfully have all of the i18n moudles etc installed, and its all working pretty dandy... finally. By the way we are manually typing in the translations not using the translation servers.

I was using the business theme with the built in picture slider, however the client now wants to add descriptions to the slides and have them translate. After a bit of research I found that I had no hope with that slider so I have successfully replaced it with nivo slider.

From the research I have done it seems as if it is possible to translate the descriptions with Nivo slider, but for the life of me I can't work it out. I'm starting to tear my hair out as I have spent too much time researching this. can anyone shed some light?

One way I thought would of been to create slides for each language and limit them to each language page (as described here http://drupal.org/node/1367786) However I am having the same issue as post 4 where limiting it to /de/ won't work, the reply in post 5 says to try to limit it by the Node ID, But since this is on the front page I don't see how I can do this? Is there even a separate node ID for each languages front pages?

I mean ideally it would of been great if there was a way to add a translation field for the description, similarly to for a block,
