Theme development

Hello everyone I'm new to Zen... New to theming to.. So far I have been able to setup Zen to the point where I now have 'my own theme'..

I have built a complete website with Dreamweaver and I'm looking to convert it into a theme for sake of easy maintenance , as the client doesn't want to stress in the long run. It is an online magazine where different writers get to post their writeups/articles. Amongst its many other features it's also an aggregator.

.. Well I have the page.tpl.php and the node.tpl.php and their respective css files(nodes.css and pages.css).. I dont understand what I'm to do wt them in order recreate the design and structure that I have wt the finished work from DW... I understand that they are template files but how do I work wt them to build something out of it.. And as I go along I also want to be able to write my own template files (that would be interesting ;) )...

But first things first how do I manipulate these files and work wt them.. Its really urgent .. the client is starting to fret...

I put new linesin the frontpage of my new drupal-page, www.schlaflosinzuerich.ch. I tryed to write it with enhanged code, ö ü ä. but it come only <?> characters.

Can somebody help me?

It's the following:

I have a website that is responsive, it has the classic and mobile version, depending of the device's width. But I would like to know if is possible to load different images from differents devices? For example:

I have a image with 800x500 resolution. If the user is on desktop browser, the site must to load this image. If the user is on mobile browser, the site must to load other image in 100x50 resolution.

Is it necessary to make a javascript file for it? Or a module? Is there any ready?

I'm trying to insert pictures into the main content area, along with some text underneath it. I've added a class for the image to my custom.css and its working, because everything is styling fine from the custom.css file.

however, when I try to style any images that I insert in the content, some styling works and some doesn't. for example, I can make the images any width up to about 300px, after that width the do not get any bigger. also, if I add a margin to the images they do not get this margin styling.

Hello, I am trying to configure a subtheme of Zen 5.x. I'm new in Drupal so I don't have experience.

My question is, how can I configure CSS for different types of content? In the main page I need to show one, two or more nodes of a type of content (I want to determine this).
