Q: Voting Module not showing up

I have just installed the voting module and set up the database and it doesn't seem to be working. If I check the settings of it I have it to display above the node, but when I go and view a node I do not see the voting system. Any ideas?

Thank you!

Lazy newbie scratching head over themes.

Warning - I am sure this post is stupid but you Drupal guys seem nicer than most. So thanks ahead of time for your help.

I have googled and searched the forums to death, but unable to decide how best to approach this.

I currently have a site for my old high school chums back in Nebraska using Joomla. I started it as a joke and it has spread like cancer into a full fledged alumni community. I liked Joomla because I could have a "pretty" site in a few minutes. I just found a theme I liked and replaced the header.png image, and walla, my own site. (http://www.dailygeneva.com) Over time I found Joomla/Mambo restrictive, especially in the area of blogs.

I would like to switch the site over to Drupal because it rocks for what I want it for, but all the default themes.....excuse me... look uh, not so "pretty". I can hear my hillbilly friends now, "What did you do to your web site, it looks crappy?"

I am fairly comfortable with HTML/mysql/php but not so in CSS. I like the look of the spreadfirefox theme (curvy tabs), but am looking for something similar to what I already have http://www.dailygeneva.com, but the menu could be different.

Any advice/hints for me to customize my own theme to do what I want. It seems like everyone likes the phptemplate engine and starts with the boxgrey theme. What tutorials are best for a beginner? I am lazy, so I really don't want to hack together my own theme, but with Drupal it kinda looks like I have to, no?

theme causing strange login/logout problem

I am developing a new PHPTemplate theme & it mostly works the way that I want, but it seems to be causing a strange problem when I try to log in or out. I am fairly sure it is related to the theme because the problem only happens when my new theme is used.

I am using clean URLs. The problem is exactly the same with IE and Firefox.

Using box_grey as the default theme, if I go to www.mysite.com/user I get a login screen. After entering a valid username and password, I end up on the www.mysite.com/user/2 page. If I click on a link to www.mysite.com/logout, I get logged out and end up back on the front page. Perfect.

However, with my custom theme as the default (and with *no* other changes), after entering the same username and password at www.mysite.com/user, I get stuck on a blank page with the address www.mysite.com/user/login?destination=user. If I then place the cursor at the end of the URL in the address box and press "return", I get redirected to the correct www.mysite.com/user/2 page. If I click on the www.mysite.com/logout link, I get stuck on a blank page again. If I then type www.mysite.com in the address bar, I can see that I have been logged out. There are no errors in the Drupal log.

So, it seems like *something* in my theme is causing page redirects to not work correctly. Any idea what it could be? I have no idea & the only thing that I can think of is to start with a totally clean template & paste in all the new code section by section, retesting every time. That could take days!

box_grey looks strange in internet explorer, but fine in Firefox

Please have a look at this page:

http://www.sphynxkatter.se

In IE the boxes overlap the header. But in Firefox everything looks fine.

This is the css file:

http://www.sphynxkatter.se/themes/box_grey/style.css

I've looked thru it, but I cannot find wat's wrong. Can you?
