Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Show content for certain date

Hi, I'm a real newbie to Drupal. Is there a way to show articles for a certain day only? I can view articles if I know the id from node table in the DB through this
http://localhost/public/drupalNew/?q=node/view/9 (if my the article I want to display has a node id of "9"), but how should the url look like if I want to show articles of a certain date only. There could be more than one article for a single day. Can anyone give me a hint? I'd really appreciate any help.

Umlaut on frontpage not correct

I made a fresh installation of Drupal 4.4.1.(But this should also be true for 4.4.0)

I published some nodes (blog, page, story) with german Umlaute promoted on frontpage.
Switching on cache support results in incorrect diplay of Umlaute when logged out (that means as anonymous user), but correct display of Umlaute when logged in.
I am able to force Drupal to a correct/incorrect display of Umlaute by switching on/off cache support.
Is this a bug?
How to change this?

File System Settings

Ok... I give up...

Can someone help me? I am trying to setup the avatar module and I cannot get the "files" folder configured right.

I have created a directory under my drupal root called files and gave it permissions 755 and left all of the settings to their default value. I just need to know what the correct way to set this up would be. It's not documented very well (I can't find anything about the file system settings in the handbook) and I only found one relevant post about with the search and it just suggested that it should be documented.

Double submission post?

Hey I recently installed Drupal and am trying it out.

When a user creates a new story and it ends up in submission queue the administrator or whoever can go into the story to view it before publishing as intended..
My question however is should there actually be two parts of the story displayed? The whole story shows and below it says Moderate and the whole story again... this just makes up alot of space and confusion imo. Isn't one enough?

Localization of term 'Preview'

Just having installed 4.4.0, translating everything into Danish this weekend, I find that the title 'Preview' - in the main section when previewing a page before submitting - does not change to the localization text entered for the term 'Preview'. The 'Preview' button at the bottom gets translated all right...
