I am new to Drupal and I have a new 4.6.3 installation. My goal is to use Drupal for a church web site. My primary concern is that the implementation be easy to use so that office staff can update content without my help. From a configuration standpoint, I am interested in "doing it right" as opposed to "doing it quick". I am interested in learning and doing things the "Drupal way". I know very little of taxonomies, what they can do for me, why they are significant, etc. With that being said, here is how I would like to see the site function:
I have a password protected site, however even if I'm not logged in I can still view the latest post to my forum. If I try to view any more than the first page, however, it prompts me to log in. However, I want to keep anyone from seeing anything until they've logged it. What should I do?
my domain appears to have been hijacked... I am wondering if this is a problem caused by my drupal installation... I have not upgraded to 4.6 yet, nor did I follow the latest security advice, so I am perhaps to blame, but does anyone have any advise about how to get the site away from the highjacker, or confirmation whether they recognise this issue? I have contacted my webhost of course, but thought the drupal track might be fruitful.
I would like my users to be able to upload scanned documents (if possible). Of course these would be images. I want to have a section of the site devoted to this so that users can go and view these documents. I'm usure of how to go about this. I'm not an expert with Drupal yet so I need advice.
I want to make it as simple as possible for unsophisticated users (and me!). Thanks again for any help. The quick responses on these forums have been wonderful. Thanks to everyone who has helped me in the past.
I'm creating a website for my extended family. I'd like it to include a family directory with current addresses, phone numbers, etc. Since I don't expect everyone in the family to create an account, the directory should be editable by any registered user and it has to list people who don't have an account.
Ideally I'd like to have flexible display options, so that I could set up the directory such as:
Joe Bloggs - Nebraska
Jane Bloggs - Nebraska
Jimmy Bloggs - California
etc.
with the names linking to a display of the full information.
