Quick question for the book module lords.

Anyone ever port a drupal book (data and all, not just the module) from one drupal site to another?
Wondering if there was a reccomended operational protocol for this task.
Or if anyone has suggestions reg. things that normally get screwed up.

Things that seem ripe for trouble is uids and nids being out of whack.

seems like i still havent understood the concept of taxonomy.
Is there a way that I can get rid of the Parent Tab when submitting content? I have two categories (with lots of subcategories) that would do for me. What do I need the Parent for?
Alternatively I would like users to add content to . Unfortunately that does not show up in the selection. Only previously generated content shows up. That does not fit the concept of my website.

Hi i was hoping someone could help me on the road to a php snippet. I need to draw (x) latest images in thumbnail form, from a flexinode. Rather than using the whole teaser i need the snippet to only display the image, which i assume can be controlled by the field id.

This seems like a snippet that would be useful for a number of tasks but it doesnt seem to exist. Im am still learning php/MySQL/Drupal so any help would be appreciated.

I have contact.module installed and enabled on my site.
However, when the user registers, "contact" data field is not set in users table. Hence, in order to be contacted by other users, my users have to go to "Edit my settings" and check "Other users can contact me" checkbox. I want it to be enabled by default.

Can anyone recommend me a way to set that "contact" data field to 1 at registration? Figuring it out requires quite a bit of digging through Drupal's code.

I'm running drupal 4.6, and have run into a problem with access control. While nodes themselves are access controlled---and in particular, I can restrict "anonymous users" from access to the nodes---I can't figure out how to restrict access to the blocks on the sidebars. I am managing a book node, and one of the blocks is the book outline. Each book page shows "access denied" to any anonymous user; however, such an anonymous user will see the book outline, and can navigate through it to learn all of the section headings etc., which is a privacy violation I would like to prevent.
