Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Admin operations and hiding some menu items

I know I am so close, but (because it's late) I know I just must be looking in the wrong spot.

I have two main things I wish to achieve:

1) Instead of having a permanent log in block for those users who aren't signed in, I would just like to have a 'log in' option at the bottom of the navigation menu, in much the same way there is a log out one. Problem is, the log out one only appears for users who are logged in, and I want the log in to only appear when the user is NOT logged in. But unfortunately, the log in stays there all the time.
I have fiddled with this one for hours and can not seem to get it right.

2) This query is a little different but based on a similar concept. I have created a menu item that automatically runs the cron job for me, it's simple enough and just calls the cron.php page. But I only want this to appear when an administrator is logged in (or maybe a moderator) but it's always there. I put it under the administration section of the navigation menu, but that did no good.
What I did find though, I could create a block that would only display when I had an admin function highlighted by including the 'only display on these pages: 'admin' and 'admin/*' This does achieve what I want to a degree, but I would much prefer to see it under the administration section just like my other admin options. Can this be done?

I should note (and I'll ask here) I created an extra line in the cron job php file at the end which reloads the main index page of my site. I suppose I should have used the referrer and sent it back there, but the index is fine. (Which now raises another question: anyone can run the cron file by going to my site and typing mydomain.com/cron.php. Could this be a problem?) More concerned about the two questions above though.

How do I import TIF images and display a thumbnail?

I've tried using both ImageMagick and the built-in GD function and neither appears to show a thumbnail of a TIF image graphic after upload.

Is this functionality supported by the image.module (it appears to be), or could it be a configuration issue somewhere??

Thanks!!

Downloads page similar to drupal.org's?

Hello all,

I've been running Drupal since last April, shortly after 4.6.x was released. I knew it had the ability to host downloads but until now I never bothered using it for that purpose since our corporate site was .Net based and we were using another solution. Last week I reimplemented the entire site using Drupal, only to discover much to my dismay that the various download modules are weak (no offense intended). Having spent much time checking out drupal.org's own download page, I naturally assumed that the download modules would offer capability similar to that.

I've searched the board looking for possible alternatives - I've tried various modules folks have referenced (filestore, download, flexinode) and none of those solutions seem to come close to anything I'd want to present to the public - the solutions are too cumbersome for offering device drivers. I've played with taxanomy a bit (taxonomy id a neat concept now that I've worked with it, I must admit!) but that still does not give the user experience I'd like. I've yet to find a good way to include more than one driver per page, using existing modules, unless I want one single description with one single module.

Am I missing something here? Is there a tutorial available? Or, is there a way to include multiple nodes on one single page so I can have, for example, manuals, BIOS, video, audio, (etc.) drivers on a given page, categorized by OS, type, version, etc. ?

Problems with adding .po file

I have modefied a language file and want to use it on my other sites but afther having exported it to a .po file it will not import into the new site. When I start the importing it just stands working without anything happening.
I have done this several times before but never had this problem before.

Where do I add a line in the header?

Hi.
I use the adc theme and want to break the header into two line with the slogan on top and the name on the bottom like:

slogan
Welcome

Instead of:
Welcome to my site - slogan

have tried some editing in the style.css file but do not have the knowledge to make it happen.
It would also be an option to switch the header with a picture to give me more freedom when I design it.

Thanks

Wondering how to get the integration to fit the page cleanly.

Integrated barely shows a scroll bar at the bottom:
http://alpine9.net/?q=gallery

Drupal does not:
alpine9.net

Gallery does not:
alpine9.net/gallery2/

Thanks for your help!
