Post installation

when i place the default .htaccess file in my drupal directory, i'm unable to submit any forms.

when i take it out, rss stops working and i get an internal server error.

any idea what lines i might need to keep and/or remove?

Hey all-

Been using drupal for the past year now and I have changed my primary links and secondary links a few times as I slowly develop the site.

Today, i tried to change the links, revised them in the global config section of themes and saved the changes. only problem was, nothing changed. I was the admin, the original all powerful version. Any troubleshooting ideas.

I'm using 4.5.2 (I know, I'm upgrading)

I use img_assist module to allow user upload images while typing the post. img_assist in its turn uses images module to upload the pictures and its UI includes general Drupal options: "Published", "Promoted to front page", etc. The problem is that by default "Promoted to front page" is true and after user submitted his post on the front page we see the post teaser AND separate items for every image in his post.

Is there a way to somehow make "Promoted to front page" false by default for the image nodes?

I just installed Drupal and would like to know how to add an external link to the menu system so that it'll be http://www.thedomain.com instead of http://mydomain.com/drupal/?q=http://www.thedomain.com.
