Post installation

I have now succeeded in doing this once....after much frustrating problems ( http://drupal.org/node/40646 ) and ( http://drupal.org/node/40219 )

After succeeding and making some good ground on adding new functionality to my 4.6.3 live site after testing here. That database was very successfully nuked by the update.php included with 4.7.0 beta1 and was then useless for the 4.6.3 testarea. It was eventually deleted from the server. That little hitch has cost me bigtime in absolute wasted time.

In my continuing attempts to try to setup a test area to both:-
run 4.6.3 for new feature testing
run 4.7.0 betaX for bug testing

I have tried to do this again twice now with two successive failures with a database that is around 11.2mb. It seems to me that even attempting to move a 4.6.3 site is fraught with problems. The site just does not work with a new database.

I have searched these forums and have not yet found a useful solution.

So. Can anyone outline a method which is reliable to first move the working 4.6.3 installation to a new server.

I've done this before & can't remember how - I know it's bonehead drupal, but I went thru the modules 3 times, checked the forums & for the life of me can't remember how to make a little editable block I can put in the right or left nav bar with html links to other sites, or an image, or whatever.

For some reason, flexinode keeps adding a .txt file extension onto my files, for example movie.mov.txt

Can I get rid of this? Also, certain files don't have this problem. .pdf files work. it doesn't seem to have anything to do with my uploads module either, because both .mov and .pdf files are allowed.

I have installed CiviCRM with Drupal 4.6.5 and I am trying to figure out if there is a way to render contact information for a specific entity within a Drupal node?

Use case:

I had pathauto working perfectly, but when I switched the directory of my drupal installation, it stopped working. I updated the settings.php file, and everything else now works. I did a batch update in the pathauto settings, but none of my paths, new or old, are working. Help!!

I didn't know I could make Drupal my home page, because of some reason. Is there a way to move all of the drupal files so that that happens?
