Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Community Blog Site

I am starting out on a project to build a network of blogs. Here are a few of the challenges. If you have any ideas on how to get started I would appreciate them.

Taxonomy Access not saving settings

I've just installed Taxonomy Access into Drupal 4.6.5, including the patched taxonomy.module. The 'category permissions' page appears ok, but when I save permissions for a given role, and then go back and look at them again for that role, most of the settings have disappeared. Anyone have any idea of what might be going on?

Many thanks,
Arvana

Taxonomy menu

How can I achieve:
If I have terms like:

cat1
-subcat1
--subsubcat2

and some story in subsubcat2.
So, when I click on the story, to see story content, the expanded menu will "shrink" so the cat1 is only visible.

How can I keep expanded menu, when user clicks on some content?
Now I use taxonomy_menu module.

Thanks

Gallery2 Integration

I have the latest version of gallery2 installed, and everything works fine, (i can add items, albums, etc.), the only problem is, when i try to access the gallery when I'm not logged in, it goes to some weird url trying to bring me to the login page.
eg.

when I'm logged in and go to the gallery, it's like this:

www.site.com/drupal/gallery

when i'm not logged in, and try to go to that, it brings me to this:

Is Automatic Image Processing Possible?

Is it possible to upload images and have Drupal automatically process them, ie, apply filters, crop, etc? ImageMagick supposedly is able to do this through the image module, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what file I need to edit, or where to input the commands that I want stored. I know the sytnax for ImageMagick, I'm just not sure where to put it.

Weblinks and Breadcrumbs

I'm new to Drupal, buy fairly experienced with PHP and MySQL. I'm creating a site with Drupal, and using the Weblinks module. It's mostly working as desired, but...

(1) The breadcrumbs don't include Link as the parent although the taxonomy does:

Link: (type=weblink)
- Games
- Handhelds
- Programming
