Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

News articles in forums section

Hi,

I'd like to set-up drupal so that when I post a news story, it is automatically added (along with its comments) to a specific category of the forums section.

Actually I'd like to get the same result as when we set-up a news/forums integration on a CMS.

I tried creating a "News" forum and then post my article inside this topic with "promote to front page" checkbox checked but it doesn't seem to work.

Which approach should I have? Should I think "forum topic promoted to the front page" or "news article available in a forum topic"?

site speed issues, slow performance, need help

My site has been up for almost 3 months now and all of a sudden it takes very long to load. http://buyxbox360.biz/ is my site, i did used to have a lot of rss feeds where the "delete" feeds was set to "never"

I just deleted all the feed items and emptied a bunch of rows from the database to try and clear some space up. i have now enabled the cache and set my rss feeds to delete after "2 weeks". But my site is still slow. Can anyone suggest any ways to make it fast again? Also I deactivated a bunch of modules I'm not using. I can't seem to find an answer for me in the forums.

I'm pretty concerned because I'm doing some paid advertising that is going to waste now because I'm sure people are leaving my site because its slow. But most importantly I'm worried because I'm using drupal for my other sites hoodhawk.com aiya.com and reelsnob.com and im worried they might have an issue in the near future with performance. i dont think its a hosting issue, i have vpn and my other sites listed seem to load fine. The only difference is that buyxbox360.biz was my first site so the performance issues are now beginning to show. I don't have programming skills. i just know basic copy&paste, basic html, and i've only just recently figured out how to use phpadmin. ive come this far and this is the first time i needed to request help. i will appreciate if someone can push me in the right direction to make my site fast again.

how to use drupal commenting system on custom / non-drupal objects

this is kinda a complex question but I would like to use drupal but I have a fairly sophisticated object / database model and will probably need to bring these tables into drupal rather than porting in the data model.
I'd like to be able to use drupal's commenting system on my own items (call them my_objects). I could imagine several ways of doing this. One would be to dupe the comments table and prepend it with something so that i would have comments and kl_comments. Also, I could put another field in the database and update the comments functions to write this field value.

Title Bar displaying 'Drupal' on main site page

On main page, title Bar is still showing 'Drupal'.

It lets you configure first page content but where is raw core where 'title' tag can be changed ?

Users see other users profile pages on proxy based network!

I am not sure whether to regard this as an issue with drupal or one with the network I am working on, so I thought I would post it as a forum topic and see what people think.

I used an install of Drupal 4.7b5 in a class based environment and had students log in to the site. All things were going fine until someone said they could see another persons profile! This problem started happening to a few students.

Using Blogs with Menu Module

I have setup a single user blog which is a blog for "latest scientific research". I then used the menu module to setup a static menu called "Research". The Rearch menu contains several items including the "Scientific Blog" menu item. The scientific blog menu item links to blog/4 which works to display the correct blog. I then allowed the Research menu to be visible for "research/* and blog/4". The problem is that the blog (blog/4) contains teasers and when you click to get the entire blog post the url goes to /node/* which makes the Research menu disappear.
