Ok I searched around and havent found an answer to this and my brain is getting tired...
1. I have set permission so users cannot add new albums - however on the add photo page, there is a list (Parent Albums) that allows the user to select which album they can add the photo to - it includes two - 'Root' and the users own album such as 'Jane Doe's Album'.
If the user DOES NOT select any Album before uploading a photo - Acidfree creates the new node anyway, but it's not 'in' any album - so it's orphaned! That is bad.
How can I change this - if anyone got any idea at all that would be a huge help, as Acidfree is in my opinion unusable with this problem. I can see many users not selecting an album and wondering why their pics are not showing up in their albums - and rightly so.
2. If the user selects ROOT when adding a new photo, Acidfree automatically creats a NEW ALBUM to place the image and their other album into. It assigns it a new id and re-writes the users root album link.
This is very confusing for users, who are also scared witless by message such as 'Found 2 Acidfree root albums, new root is node 19', ect.
I dont want this behaviour - users should simply never have to deal with this form (Parent Albums), if the permissions are set to not allow users to create new albums.
If I have a user Jane Doe, all her images should just go automatically to Jan Doe's Album. That would eliminate the risk of orphaned images and the problem of users beign able to create new nested ablums.
