Post installation

I would like to know if any of you guys have the best suggestion for me.
I'm a newbee and I'm setting up the website for our football team. Our Coach would like to be able to see who will attend the next training or game and the team members need to be informed about the next training or game or special event.
Our coach is a real computer idiot so he wants it to be as simple as possible. (if not, then that's his problem but I'm sure we will work something out)
What kind of module would you recommend me to install?

I have a lot of users complaining about the how Drupal displays the date of the last forum message. Is their anyway to change it form 3 days and x hours ago to the date and time?

We recently moved my drupal instance from a development server I control, where it was the only site on the box, to a production server, where it now lives in a virtual host on a server hosting a few of such.

is it possible, to for example, create a page, with on that page let's say some pictures you position where you want, some text, som forms, some graphics and whatever... and then just link to that page ?

Or can you only create a page from within drupal with standardly available stuff ?

I want to design my own page, and include this page in drupal using a link somewhere on my frontpage...

I do NOT want to have a page, created from within drupal, because that limits my possibilities...
