Post installation

I have been fixing up my site recently and have been adding a few things and just yesterday I added a couple of new mods and also changed the urls to clean and now the forums are not only missing but can't be recreated either. Not sure what is happening. Any help will be appreciated as I am still a bit new to drupal.

where could be the problem? it says that the email has been sent but no email has ever been sent from my site... many thanks for any suggestions what to check

I would like to create a hierarchy of static content on my site with a certain structure. I know that drupal can do this kind of thing, I just can't seem to find which module (if any) is needed.

Here is an example of what I would like to do. I want to create pages that list say the structures of different employee levels.

I am using TinyMCE as a text editor on all my nodes. There is one which I wish to put in a couple of lines of php code to generate a random pic. Php code does not work if the editor is enabled even if I use the edit html button. So I tried clicking the disable rich text button put in the code and all is fine. When I open the node again though it now will not let me switch back to rich text. It seems that tinymce cant cope with code! Is there any way to put in a bit of code using the editor? is there a plugin I could use?

If I goto my "node/add/forum", the new forum topic page no longer has a dropdown menu for my forums. As a result, I cannot post any topics into my forums. Any idea how this could be fixed?

I'm hoping this feature is available, because I'm running out of time. I want there to be checkboxes in the header of my theme (zen) that correspond to the search module. That is, let's say a checkbox for Web, one for My Site, and one for another site. So by clicking on a checkbox, a user can use the search box in the theme header to either search the web, my site, or another site.
